Agnes was born the daughter of Zachariah Warren and Agnes White. She grew up in Franklin Co VA, where her father's land bordered the Edward Richards [1731] property along Chesnut Creek.

Three months before her seventeenth birthday she married John Stewart on April 15 1805 there, with Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. [1783] as surety.

The Stewart, Warren, and Richards families exchanged several sons and daughters in marriage.
Agnes' sister, Sarah Ann Warren, married Edmund Hendley Richards Sr.
Agnes' uncle, Jesse Warren, had married Rhoda Richards, Edmund Hendley Richards' sister.

Agnes and John pioneered with the Richards, Stewart, England, Jones, and Warren families into TN in ca1814; then on to Macoupin County IL in 1829. They purchased their first land tracts in North Otter Township of Macoupin Co IL in October of that year. This land became the resting place for John's mother and father.

She was the mother of 10 children and kept house while John pastored and farmed.
