Essie was the second of seven children born to Franklin L. and Sylvana (York) Williams. She married Henry Clay McPherson in 1914 and they were the parents of three children: Velna Allene, Wilma Ann and Franklin Clay.

SNOW CAMP-Mrs. Essie Williams McPherson, 87, of Rt. 2 died Tuesday morning in Memorial Hospital of Alamance County.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Delmar L. Chilton and the Rev. William Presnell officiating.
A native of Randolph County, she was a charter member of the United Methodist Women of her church.
Surviving are son, F.C. McPherson of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; daughters, Mrs. Allena Faulkner and Mrs. Wilma Thompson of Rt. 2, Snow Camp; sisters, Mrs. Vivie Edwards and Mrs. Mina Scott of Liberty, Mrs. Cosie Holmes of Lumberton; 10 grandchildren.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington 7-9 p.m. today and at other times at the home of her son.
