Bill Brannon
Died January 27, 2009

Bill Brannon June 28, 1938 – January 27, 2009
On January 27, 2009 Bill boarded his tow truck with wings to ride the golden streets of Heaven. Bill died at the age of 70 after a long, courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy.

He was a man of faith, love, generosity and had a positive and humorous nature. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He leaves his loving and caring wife, Cindi; sons, Bobby Brannon & wife Pam of Buttonwillow, Gary Brannon and wife Stacy of Springfield, Illinois; daughters, Pamela Brannon and companion Ray Smith of Camby, Oregon and Jennifer Dupuy and husband Chad of Bakersfield; step-children, Donna Harris and companion Clayton and Sean Harris and companion Karen; brothers, Cleo Brannon and companion Chris of Wasco and Jimmy Brannon of Buttonwillow; sisters, Barbara Williamson of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Charlotte Sizemore of Sumner, Washington and Mary Harris of Fellows; special friends, Gene and Betty King of Bakersfield and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Viola Brannon and his favorite canine friend of 14 years, Lucky Dog, aka "Bubba". Bill was self-employed since 1962, building the Brannon's empire. Bill was a wonderful role model. He was an active member of the California Tow Truck Association (CTTA) for 32 years, California Truckers Association (CTA) for 25 years, Towing & Recovery Association of America (TRAA) for 23 years, AAA Contract Station Owner for 36 years and the Old Farts Car Club (OFCC) of Wasco for 12 years. Bill was active with community activities. He sponsored many Kern County Fair projects for Buttonwillow children, sponsored Shafter Junior Miss and supported the Buttonwillow Mayor's Race. In 1995 Bill ran for Mayor of Buttonwillow and in 1991 was voted the Business of the Year by the Buttonwillow Chamber of Commerce. Bill was also listed the Who's Who in the Towing Industry in 1996. Bill loved traveling, be it cruising around the world on 13 cruises; or trips to the beach. He enjoyed his classic cars and street rods and going to the car shows with friends.

Spending time with the grandkids was his passion. Bill's family wish to acknowledge Optimal Hospice, his long-time caregivers, Katrina and Lori; nurses, Sandra, Tonya, Jennifer, Selena, Lisa and Kyle; social worker, Alma; and chaplain, Pat Roberts. Special family friend, Sandy Snyder, moved in and was a tremendous help to Cindi. The love, care and compassion of all these people were an inspiration and an enormous blessing not only to Bill but also to those of us who so loved him. Funeral services will be held at the Shafter Jesus Saves International Church of God on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11am, under the direction of Peters Funeral Home. Pastors Steve Seymour, Tyler Hartman and Gary Story will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
