God graciously gave Bernarda "Babe" Anderson over 95 years on this earth to praise and honor Him, which she did with great delight. On January 25, 2009 He called her home. Today she walks in heaven hand in hand with her husband Carl, her parents Frank and Matilda (Willi) Wade and her brother Frank Wade. She is survived by two loving daughters, Karen (Ernie) Hasselbring of Valparaiso and Kristine (Michael) Barrett also of Valparaiso. She was dearest Grandmother to six loving grandchildren, Kristen, Ernie Jr., Michael Jr., (fiancé Jackie), Ryan, Brendan (Nicole) and Kasey. She also was Great Grandma to Brayden and Troy.
Bernarda was born August 23, 1913 in LaPorte, Indiana. On March 17, 1950 she married Carl Anderson in San Francisco, California. They moved to Lansing, Illinois in 1953 where they raised their twin daughters and lived until retirement. Upon retiring they moved back to LaPorte, Indiana. After Carl's death in 1991 Bernarda moved to Valparaiso to be close to her daughters.
Bernarda enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting and watching the Chicago Bulls basketball games. She became a member of St. Paul's Parish where she attended mass daily. One of the great joys in her life was playing the piano at St. Agnes' Adult Day Care.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM directly at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mary Queen of the Apostles Chapel, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, Fr. Joseph Pawlowski officiating and burial to follow at Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte. A visitation will immediately precede the service at church from 10 -11 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Agnes' Adult Day Care in Valparaiso.
