Aela Younger Blackburn, 80, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., died Friday at her daughter's residence in Brooklyn Park.
Born May 20, 1918, in Bedford,
Daughter of Remus and Lida (Stewart) Blackwell.
Retired teacher, she had taught for 38 years at schools in Lawrenceburg, Springville, Needmore, Bartlettsville, Oolitic and Ellettsville.
Graduate of Indiana Teachers College, she received a master's degree from Indiana University and at one time served in reading programs in Monroe County schools.
Former member of the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.
Member of the IU Alumni and the Indiana State Teachers associations.
Survivors include:
1 son, Howard Younger of Fayetteville;
1 daughter, Carol McKinney of Brooklyn Park;
2 sisters, Freda Stewart of Ellettsville and Eva Hillenburg of Bartlettsville;
7 grandchildren,
7 great-grandchildren
1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by:
First husband, Lawrence Younger;
Second husband, Robert "Bob" Blackburn;
1 sister, Avis Prince;
1 brother, Elmer Blackwell.
Services at Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford with the Revs. Jeff Williams and Kenny Waldon officiating.
Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
