Calvin Richard "Pete" Sipe


Maiden, N.C. - Calvin Richard "Pete" Sipe, 84, of Maiden, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his residence.

Born Sept. 26, 1924, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Loy and Carrie Mathis Sipe.

Mr. Sipe was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by three sons, Rick Sipe and wife, Robin, Ted Sipe and wife, Teresa, and Clay Sipe, all of Maiden; two daughters, Linda Morris and husband, Mike, of Maiden and Pam Canipe and husband, James, of Vale; two brothers, Boone Sipe and Bill Sipe, both of Maiden; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden, with Dr. Foyd Bennett and the Rev. Eugene Elmore officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight, Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.
