She was born in Salt Lake City to Winifred Smith and Daniel H. Cannon. She married Walter C. Johnson on June 22, 1940, and together they raised two children, Barbara (Theme) and Bruce. They were a devoted family who treasured their time together.
Her life was full and busy. She relished her hours on the golf course and at the bridge table and enjoyed her service in PTA and many civic organizations. We used to say that she never met an organization she couldn't run. She served for many years as private secretary and companion to Delores Dore Eccles.
Barbara was completely devoted to her children, Theme (Lynn) Porter and Bruce (Nancy) Johnson. She adored her grandchildren: Kimberly (Rob) Gerlach, Lane (fianc Betty), Kelly (Jeremy) Porter, and Ashley Johnson and Nick Johnson. Her only great-grandchild, Clara Lynn Gerlach, had a special place in her heart.
She also treasured her extended family and especially appreciated her sister-in-law Marian Johnson. A devoted friend, she cherished the friendships she made throughout her life. She looked forward to sending her unique Christmas greetings every year, as her friends enjoyed receiving them.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grand daughter. Wally passed away in 1962.
A Memorial Service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m.
Friends may call an hour before the services or Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
