Daniel was born in late May 2008, but already when she was allowed home with her little sunshine, his mother knew that there was something seriously wrong with him.

It quickly turned out that Daniel suffered from a very rare form of leukemia, and his fate touched the hearts of everybody in our whole town and area, the typing action when the family searched for a matching bone marrow donor was the largest one ever carried out in Gummersbach and all the area.

And the family and friends were full of hope when a matching donor was found; however, Daniel's overall condition was bad, and shortly after he developed edemas in his body. Despite many attempts to help the little one, he sadly lost his battle on February 9, and all our hearts go out to his family and all those who mourn him.

Daniel will be buried on Saturday, February 14, 2009, on the Lieberhausen Waldfriedhof.

Here's what the family put in the obituary:

Ich bin nicht tot,
ich tausche nur die Räume
Ich leb' in Euch
und geh durch Eure Träume

I am not dead,
I only changed the room,
I shall live in you
and shall walk into your dreams.

Heaven needed a new angel and for this purpose has chosen our darling boy and sunshine Daniel.

Having received the last rites, our little man went into eternal rest on February 9, at 7.25 pm, after having fought a serious illness, with a lot of happiness and patience. While he has fought so bravely, in the end he found salvation.

Now he lives in ourselves and will always be with us.

The family asked those who wish to attend the funeral not to wear black clothes. (Auf Trauerkleidung bitten wir zu verzichten!)

Heartfelt thanks to Caroline Panagopoulos for kindly sponsoring Daniel's memorial. You are a true earth angel.
