Charles was living in Long Island, New York when he enlisted in the US Army.
Arriving in Vietnam 11 January 1968, Charles was assigned to B Company, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, USARV. The battalion was participating in Operation Enterprise and in the vicinity of Ben Tre City and 12 kilometers south of My Thot in Kien Hoa Province, during TET 1968. B Company encountered hostile forces and Charles died as a result of multiple fragmentation
wounds to the body from a hostile explosive device.
Survived by his parents, Mr & Mrs Charles Bauer Sr of 11-12 4th Avenue, Long Island, New York.
