Diana Ward Rockwell was born on July 28, 1873. She was the daughter of Alfred Perkins Rockwell and Katharine Virginia Foote. She married Eliot Sumner and they had two children, Alfred Rockwell Sumner, born in 1909, and Katherine Sumner, born in 1912. She and her husband Eliot bought a house named Drew Farm in Gilmanton, New Hampshire where their children, grandchildren, and further generations after them would all spend magical summers. Diana died on January 23, 1936. There is a monument for her and her other Foote relatives at the Foote-Ward Cemetery, but she was buried in the Elliott family circle. This family group was later moved to Alderbrook Cemetery in Guilford.
