Jacob Snider was born in 1799 in Berkeley County, VA. This county was created by the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1772 and remained a Virginia county until 1863 when it was transferred to West Virginia after the creation of this new state was admitted to the Union during the American Civil War. Jacob, during his lifetime, witnessed the annexation of his Virginia birth county to West Virginia.
