Sitchie was born in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey, the daughter of (according to many accounts, William Pitman and Hannah Kemble (Kimble). William is buried at Sideling Hill Baptist Cemetery, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Sitchie married Thomas Clevenger in 1762 according to several sources.
