Ellis Barfield Jr., 56, of Oak Hill, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Holzer Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Ellis and Ethel Eldridge Barfield Sr.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca McKinney; his brother, Randy; and his sister, Phyllis.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hightower Barfield whom he married in April 1989 in Greenup Co., Ky.; four sons, Ellis "Joe" Barfield III and Paula of Oak Hill, Christopher Lee Barfield of Waverly, Bobby (Sheena) Barfield of Lexington, Ky., and John Culver Jr. of Portsmouth; one daughter, Traci Carver of Friendship; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Anthony Barfield of Avon, Ohio, and Jeff Barfield of Portsmouth; five sisters, Janet Lovely of Columbus, Vickie Hanes of Lucasville, Penny Pollitt of Sciotoville, Judy Barfield of Portsmouth, and Jenny Hufferd of Chillicothe.
Ellis was a truck driver for over 30 years.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, in Batterson Cemetery on Gampp Road, Minford, with Matt McCoy officiating. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
