The Ada Evening News - Thursday, November 25, 1937:

A surprise birthday turkey dinner was held in honor of Mrs. Lizzie Sanders. All of her children and some of the grandchildren and two great grandchildren were present. A large cake with 70 pink candles and trimmings adorned the center of the table. Mrs. Sanders says she is 70 years young.

After they enjoyed the turkey dinner, all the children and grandchildren showered Mrs. Sanders with many nice presents. After a very pleasant day together they departed wishing their mother many more happy birthdays.

Those present were: Roy Sanders of Lowell, Ariz., Mrs. Mildred See, Carnegie, Okla., Effie Sanders, Gene Sanders of Ada, Mrs. Emma Dickerson of Ada, Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders of Ada, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lair of Carnegie. The grandchildren are: Mr. and Mrs. Herman See and sons, Buster and Wallace, Joe Sanders, Alva, Evelene and Raymond Dickerson, LaVaughan, Estes, Estelee, Carlen and Don L. Sanders, a friend Mrs. Mollie Henderson. Miss Annie Brandon couldn't be present for the birthday dinner, but she sent Mrs. Sanders a nice present.

Mrs. Sanders enjoyed the turkey dinner and the many nice gifts and most of all having all of her children at home one more time with her.

"Sixtieth Anniversary Is Celebrated by Sanders"

Recently Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Sanders celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wedding at their home, 305 West Sixth.

Gentry Thomas Sanders was born in Monroe county, Missouri, in 1861, and Lizzie Rigsby was born November 26, 1867. They were married at Woodlawn, Mo., in 1887.

In 1906 they moved to Konawa and lived there three years. Then they moved to the Worstell community 11 miles northwest of Ada, later brought and moved to a farm in the Lovelady community. They lived there until two years ago, when they moved to their present address.

Of their eight children, four of them sons and four daughters, six are living; there are 22 grandchildren and 22 great-granchildren.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Sanders are still active despite the advancing years.

Mrs. Lizzie Sanders, 92, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at her home, 411 WEst Seventeenth. Her death was attributed to a light stroke.

Mrs. Sanders was born November 22, 1867 in Monroe County, Missouri. She had comleted her elementary and high school work in Missouri, married there and came to Ada in 1905. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Sanders leaves two sons, Gene Sanders and John Sanders, both of Ada; three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Lair, Cordell; Mrs. Emma Dickerson, Ada, and Mrs. Mildred See, Oklahoma City; 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Southwest Church of Christ. Grandsons will be bearers. Chriswell Funeral Home will diirect the services. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
