Honor to Brave Men.
COLUMBU8, O., October 19, 1874,
To the Editor of the Enquirer:
Your graphic account this morning of "Faithful Unto Death-Heroism of an Engineer and Fireman-Passengers Sleep while their Saviors Perish" arouses a feeling of grateful pride in the breasts of all lovers of true herolsm, and suggests that otber action than a passing notice of an apprectating and liberal press should be had by an enlightened and Christian community of people. Many are the occasions where less political arena and in grandly recognized in public speech, expressive resolutions and lasting monuments, and the surviving wife and little ones of the honored
party made comfortable with kind words and material action.

I trust that in addition to your appreciating record of the melancholy heroic deed of Engineer Daniel Perdew and Fireman Joseph Parent you in will in your popular and widely circulated Journal suggest and earnestly advise that a great public meeting of the people be had in our city, at an early period,
where due and proper expressions can be had of a substantial character, alike creditable to the memory of the worthy dead and to a sympathizing, grateful public.
