Actor. He is best remembered for his portrayal of the foul Edgar Deems in "Tremors" (1990). Born Lloyd Parker, after working for over 30 years as a leading man in stock companies, he made his film debut late in life after his agent arranged for him to begin a career in the film industry beginning with him appearing in a leading role in "Hometown, USA" (1979). From there, he would go on to appear in over 30 features; often typecast as eccentrics, alcoholics, cowboys, curmudgeons, drunks, hobos, blue-collared guys, and geezers. He appeared in such feature films as "Mr. Horn" (1979), "Heart Beat" (1980), "Any Which Way You Can" (1980), "Oh, God! Book II" (1980), "Spittin Image" (1982), "Cannery Row" (1982), "Kiss My Grits" (1983), "The Sure Thing" (1985), "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" (1985), "Double Revenge" (1988), "Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat" (1989), "Road House" (1989), "Love at Large" (1990), and "Love Street" (1994). On television, he became an even more familiar face appearing in numerous guest spots on such syndicated sitcoms as "Bonanza," "Little House on the Prairie," "After MASH," "The Dukes of Hazzard," and "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.". During his career, he was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, had been supportive of the Motion Picture and Television Fund, was a regular parishioner of the Episcopal church, had been supportive of the California State Democratic Committee, had been honorary chairman of the MET Theatre, presided as a chairman for his local charters of the United Way and Habitat for Humanity, and he was a vocal instructor for the Pasadena Playhouse, Following his retirement in 1994, he spent the final years of his life being a regular attendee at autograph conventions, and was involved in charitable and environmental causes, until his death from complications of pneumonia.
