~MY ANCESTORS~
His parents may have been JAMES & HESTER BEERS, the name also spelled Bere or Beares. He came to America from England before 1644, when his name was first found in the records in Boston. He may have come with his brother, James, & uncle, Richard Beers.

He lived in Watertown in the Mass. Bay Colony where his children were born until May of 1657 when he moved to Roxbury in 1658. At Watertown, he was a Sgt. in the Indian Wars in 1649 and admitted a freeman on May 6, 1657.

In 1659, he moved to Fairfield Co., Conn. where he was granted a homelot there in 1667 that he sold in 1669. He was living in Fairfield when he drowned at sea about the year 1676. His occupation was that of a mariner. The event of his death was recorded in the family Bible by his grandson, JOSIAH BEERS (also my ancestor).

The inventory of his estate, dated May 14, 1679 listed only moveables. He was survived by his second wife, Mary.

Anthony Beers married (1) Elizabeth (parents of at least nine known children), and (2) Mary Adams, widow of Edward Adams of Fairfield.

Children of Anthony & Elizabeth Beers:
John , January 20, 1652 , Watertown ; Esther, October 16, 1654 , Watertown ; Samuel , May 2, 1657 , Watertown , died young; Barnabas , September 6, 1658, Roxbury ; Elizabeth , April, 1661 , Fairfield.
