TY TY -- Paul Giles, 78, of Ty Ty, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Ty Ty and the Ready Men Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends today from 5-7 p.m. at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Tiftarea or First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Born May 16, 1923 in Colquitt County, Giles was the son of Johnny W. Giles and Jessie Carver Giles, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and one grandson. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. He was a deacon in his church, active in Sunday School and church brotherhood, a former member of the Sylvester Lions Club and a U.S. Army veteran from World War II where he was an officer serving at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial. He had lived in Ty Ty since 1958.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Louise Wells Giles of Ty Ty; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tony and Sylvia Giles of Franklin, N.C., Tommy Giles of Ty Ty and Phillip and Mattie Giles of Clay City, Ky.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara and Sidney Thomas of Omega and Peggy Giles and future son-in-law Ken Dillard; two sisters, Sara Tanner of Moultrie and Irene Kilgore of Ft. Knox, Ky.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
