Billy Joe (B.J.) Peggram, 78, of Wiggins, died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Greeley, Colorado. Services were held at 10:00 am at Summit Baptist Church of Wiggins. Interment was at Hoyt Cemetery.

He was born September 17, 1927, at Quail to Roy and Lola Peggram. He grew up east of Amarillo and attended schools at Quail and McKnight. He graduated from Quail High School in 1944. He received his B.S. Degree in Agriculture from West Texas State University at Canyon in 1948 and his Master's degree in Counseling at Western State College at Gunnison. He taught school twenty years while ranching and farming. He married Frances Elizabeth Gooch of Canyon June 2, 1950. After he taught Veteran's School at Wellington for three years, they moved to Kim, Colorado, managing a large ranch. Later he taught public school at Kim, Haswell, Westcliffe, Wiggins, and Weldona, Colorado. They bought a ranch at Rosita, Colorado in 1958, sold in 1974, bought a farm at Wiggins and have lived there thirty-one years.

His passion has been serving God by teaching Bible classes for 55 years and recently "Sharing Jesus Without Fear" in Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma. In college he was president of the Baptist Student Union. He was ordained a deacon in the Quail Baptist Church in 1949. He was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Kim, First Baptist Church of Westcliffe, and of Summit Baptist Church. He served in Campers on Mission, and the Executive Board of Colorado Baptist General Convention. He received recognition for nine years as Mission Service Corps-VIM Consultant of Platte Valley Association. His second passion was raising cattle following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. He showed calves and led his children to show livestock and served on the Custer and Morgan County Fair Boards. Mr. Peggram always wanted to improve the land and did extensive conservation work in Custer and Morgan counties. He served on the Morgan County Soil Conservation Board and received the SCS Conservation Award in 1983, the Lower South Platte Association Conservationist in 1985, and The Goodyear Conservation Award in 1986. At his death he was a member of Centennial Land Trust Board.
He enjoyed participating and coaching sports and cheering for his children and grandchildren.

His parents, a sister, and an infant son preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife Frances, daughter Linda Epple and son, Tim of Wiggins, son Jody of Woodstock, Georgia, and son Bill of Hixson, Tennessee, a sister, Opal Camp of Dodson, two brothers Jim of Canyon, and Gene of Amarillo and ten grandchildren.
