ERNST HEINRICH SOEFJE (1863-1946), son of Heinrich Soefje and Marianna 'Anna' (Willmann) Soefje, was born at Neighborsville, Comal County, on December 23, 1863 and baptized Heinrich August Ernst Soefje on February 6, 1864 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Godparents were Herrn Christian Isensee, August Schleicher, Frau Lenz, and Frau (Carolina Willmann) Stein, his mother's sister. He was later also confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Martin's. Here Ernst grew up and attended public school and helped on the farm. In looking for a life companion, he found one in Miss EMMA BRUEMMER (1875-1945), born February 28, 1875 at Twin Sisters, Blanco County. They were married May 19, 1894 in Comal County and settled on the farm at Leesville. They were active in community affairs and attended church services at Monthalia Lutheran Church. They moved to a farm near Seguin in 1915, and then to a farm in New Braunfels in 1927 where they spent the rest of their lives. Emma died August 20, 1945 and Ernst died May 18, 1946 in Comal County. Ernst and Emma are buried in Comal Cemetery.
