James "Leon" was the son of Harvey and Mattie Dell Bryan Alderman and the husband of Ruth Moody Ransone Alderman. He received his higher education at Florida Southern College and Emory University, later taking special courses at Moody Bible Institute and the University of North Carolina. He became a Methodist preacher, though his pulpit activities were merely incidental as he was more active in the educational field and was, for a while, principal of Wimauma High School, later moving to Tampa, FL. He taught Social Studies at Hillsborough High School. His picture is from my 1955 high school annual.
