Funeral services were held Friday, April 17, in Oregon, for Carl Rosendahl of Carlton, OR, fomerly of Gilmore City, IA. He died Tuesday, April 14 of (Liver) hepatic failure and coma due to diabetes at an Oregon Hospital, where he had been a patient for a shortime.

Carl Burnell Rosendahl, the son of Gerd and Ecke (Janssen) Rosendahl, was born on Oct. 21, 1918, on a farm in Center Twp., Calhoun County, north of Rockwell City, Iowa. He was Baptized into the Christian Faith on Nov. 24, 1918 at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Knierim, IA. Serving as Sponsors were his Uncle and Aunt, Robert and Helena "Lena" (Rosendahl) Tjaden. He later Confirmed his Faith in Christ at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, IA. Carl graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1938. After graduation he was employed by many area farmers. In 1942, with the beginning of World War 2, he went to work at Kaizer Shipyards in Portland, OR. He was united in marriage to Earlene Janssen in 1943 at Oregon. After the war, the couple made their home in Newberg, OR, for many years. He was employed at Portland driving a long haul truck, until his retirement, at which time the couple moved to Carlton, OR. He had been a former member of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, IA, and the Christian Churches in the area of where he lived in Oregon.

Carl is Lovingly Remembered by his wife: Earlene; his seven children: Carl Jr. Rosendahl, Ronald Rosendahl, Gail, Betty, JoAnn, and Robin Rosendahl, and their families and spouses; and grandchildren; Sisters: Helen Harris of Dakota City, IA, Dorothy Abel of Pensacola, FL, and Arlene Chantland of Humboldt, IA; his brother: Vernon Rosendahl of Wenatchee, Wash.; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He joins in Heaven his parents, Gerd and Ecke (Janssen) Rosendahl; son, Robert in 1971; brothers: Arthur and Glen Rosendahl; his In-Laws, and many other Loved Ones.

Gravesite Details

Husband of Earlene T. Janssen married 26 Nov 1943. Had health complications while in the hospital. He did not die of cancer; but a spot of cancer was found on his lung.
