WIDOW OF S.B. PIONEER DIES
Mrs.Florence Barton 96, widow of pioneeer San Bernardino Mayor Hiram M.Barton, died Friday in Berkeley.
Mrs. Barton was born in Illinois Feb 19, 1871, and moved to San Bernardino in 1887. Her husband, Hiram Barton, was mayor of San Bernardino in the early 1900s, and was one of the founders of Mt.View Cemetery.
The couple lived on the Old Barton Ranch, a 2,000-acre site which now is the city of Redlands. Mrs Barton was the first president of the San Bernardino Republicans Club.
She is survived by a son Merritt Gibson Barton, and a daughter , Clara Margaret Barton, both of Berkeley.
Mayor Barton died in San Bernardino Dec. 13 1928 before reaching his 72nd birthday.

Florence was a Charter Member of the San Bernardino Chapter and later a member of the Arrowhead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
