.∼Grandfather John Register served in the Indian War in at least 3 known enlistments. He drew a US pension for these services. Also served in the Confederate Army for about 2 yrs and was at home on furlough when Atlanta & Savannah fell in 1864 was married twice first to Eliz Cowart born 1820. Married June 10, 1839 had 6 children by this marriage. Married a 2nd time in 1861 to Mary Ann Fiveash born 1844 in Montgomery Co. Ga 12 children by this marriage. Lived in Stockton district from about 1839 until 1863, moved to Berrien Co. and soon after to Hamilton Co, Fl. lived the 10 or 15 years moved to Echols Co. Ga where he lived the last 25 years of his life. Buried at Warefare church with his first wife. Last wife Mary Ann buried at New Friendship Church Hahira , Ga
