Edward "Bud" Pierce, 47, of Woonsocket, died Monday, Jan. 22, 1990, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Basham Funeral Chapel, Woonsocket, with the Rev. Bill Holmes officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Eventide Cemetery, Woonsocket.

Edward H. K. Pierce was born Feb. 24, 1942, at Sioux Falls to Edward H. and Ruth M. (Stoddard) Pierce. He attended Sioux Falls and Woonsocket schools. He worked with his father in Pierce Sand and Gravel until 1964. He served in the military in Vietnam as a crane operator for three years from 1967 to 1970. He also drove supplies to orphans, often under heavy fire conditions. He came back to Woonsocket and worked as an independent contractor.

He was a member of the American Legion, and he worked the rides for Max Amusement out of Huron.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Mattson of Woonsocket, two daughters, Amber Pierce of Gillette, Wyo., and Sharene Pierce of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Edwina Larson of Huron, Penny McWhorter of Huron, and Nancy DeCuir of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother, Robert Pierce of Mount Perrysburg, Oh.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Carmen Hall.
