William Newton Kasch, age 83, of Union, died February 6, 2009 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. There will be a graveside service in St. Helens, Oregon in the near future. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Mr. Kasch was born on January 5, 1926 in Salem, Oregon. He served with the Merchant Marines and in 1978 he married Eva Ward in St. Helens. They moved to Union 20 years ago and he was self-employed as a roofer for many years. He enjoyed hunting and loved to golf.
Survivors include his wife, Eva of Union; step-son, Tom Etter of Missouri; daughter Vicky Volk of Irrigon and Tauni Kasch of Portland; brother, Robert Kasch of Portland; eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.

NOTE: According to the Funeral Home records: William's cremated remains were brought from LaGrande, OR (Daniels-Knopp FH) to Columbia FH where he was interred with Carl Gartman, his father-in-law - (NO MARKER for Bill)

Per contributor Louis Stark on 10-14-16, "Bill is now listed in the VA Nationwide Gravesite Locator at Willamette National Cemetery; along with his wife, Eva, who was just interred there. I do not yet know if this is a cenotaph, or if his cremated remains have once again been relocated."
