ROXBORO - Mable Puryear Gravitte, 103, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Person Memorial Hospital. Born in Virgilina, Va., Mrs. Gravitte was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Susie Tillotson Puryear and wife of the late Bob Gravitte. Mrs. Gravitte was a homemaker and a member of Union Christian Church. Mrs. Gravitte was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Culver, Austin, Alver, and Peyton and her sisters, Vera Slagle and Vivian Collier.
Mrs. Gravitte is survived by her daughters, Dorothy G. Clack Yarboro and Mildred Clack, both of Roxboro; one sister, Edith P. Atkins, of Virgilina, Va.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
