James Elzy Gilpin, 58, of Columbia died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 1994, in his home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Robinson Funeral Home in Ashland with Stanley Owen officiating. Burial will be in Barnes Chapel Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilpin was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Columbia to Elzy Clive Gilpin and Mildred Bertha Hopkins Gilpin.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959.

He worked for Boone County Hospital for several years before working for the Columbia Public School System for 20 years as a bus driver and deliveryman in food service. He retired in 1991.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post No. 2730 in Columbia.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Gilpin of Columbia; a son, Ronnie Gilpin of Poolville, Texas; two daughters, Kellena Gilpin and Melissa Owen, both of Ashland; five brothers, Wallace Williamson, Emerson Williamson, Jerry Williamson, Benny Gilpin Sr. and Vincil Gilpin, all of Columbia; two sisters, Zula Mae Mordica and Maxine Craig, both of Columbia; and a grandson.

Memorials are suggested to the Barnes Chapel Cemetery, in care of Jim Mulberry, 1316 S. Victory, Columbia, Mo., 65201.
