Funeral services for Agnella "Nellie" Martin, 91 of Muenster are set for 10 A.M., Saturday May 9, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster, with Fr. Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. Visitation and Rosary is set for 5 P.M. Friday, May 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Martin died May 6, 2015 in Denton. She was born on August 28, 1923, on the Pels Farm northwest of Muenster. She married Lawrence Martin on August 27, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church.
Nellie was a cook at the Sacred Heart lunch room for 39 years retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Saint Anne's Society and the VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, bird watching, cooking and baking, playing games, listening to the Rustler's Band, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Nellie is survived by her: children: Douglas Martin and wife Laura of Myra, Ernest Martin and wife Laneta of Muenster, and Estelle Gilpin and husband Ike of Lindsay; grandchildren Joey Martin and wife Jeanie of Gainesville, Yvonne Sandmann & husband Nathan of Valley View, Crystal Bryant and husband Adam of Valley View, Ronnie Ray Whitford and wife Tabatha of Crowley, Josh Whitford and wife Patti of Burkburnett, and Pete Abbott of Atlanta, Georgia; great grandchildren Caleb and Chloe Sandmann, Kenzie Stapelton, Wes Abbott, Tara Abbott. Toby and Zoey Whitford, Aspen, Kady, Hayden and Chayce Whitford, and Parish Whitford; 7 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Clara Walterscheid, and sister-in-law Regina Pels. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Martin; parents Henry and Anna Lummel Pels; sisters: Theresa Muller, Marie Knauf, Esther Weske, Sister Imelda Pels, and Leona Pels; brothers Ed and Henry Pels, and grandson, Russell Abbott.
Pallbearers were: Joey Martin, Nathan Sandmann, Leon Knauf, Dave Muller, James Walterscheid, and Milton Knauf. Honorary pallbearers were Caleb Sandmann and Chloe Sandmann.
