In 1828 Jacob McInterfer came from Ohio and selected a mile square section of land along the Rock River. He cleared the land, planted corn and potatoes, and in the spring brought his wife Cathryn and twelve children to live here (Today Three Rivers, Mi.) Life was a challenge. Jacob McInterfer, along with George Buck, cleared the wilderness; streets were laid through the woods; and the village of St. Joseph (now part of Three Rivers,Mi) platted in 1830. McInterfer started a saw mill on Rock River. Jacob McInterfer died in 1831. Michael Beadle bought the saw mill and completed it. On March 3, 1832, Commissioners were appointed to set-off the interest of Cathrine McInterfer in the estate belonging to her. Recorded in Probate Records July 24, 1832.
Jacob McInterfer was buried along the banks of the Rock River, in Three Rivers according to History of Three Rivers, Mich Pioneer and History rolls. VOL 38 pp 418.
