Roger O. Loveridge, 93, Rio, IL, died at 10 AM Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born November 20, 1915 in Galesburg, the son of Thomas and Pearl Wilson Loveridge. He married Mary L. Smith on October 17, 1935 in Shanghai, IL. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1984.
He is survived by a son, Jim (and Marsha) Loveridge of Keithsburg, IL, 2 daughters, Loretta (and Dan Gilliam) Loveridge of Woodhull, IL and Alta Kay (and Gary) Pittard of Appleton, GA, a daughter-in-law, Lucille Loveridge of Augusta, GA, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, a sister, Opal Gillian of Milwaukee, WI, and his caregiver, Cathy Berry of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by a son, David Loveridge, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Roger was a die setter for 30 years at the former Admiral Corporation. He retired in 1981. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting, and playing cards, especially Pitch. His family was very important to him and he was devoted to his grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 AM Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Maura McGrath Nagle will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Rio Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
