Funeral services for Gordon Bybee, 76-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away at his home on Oct 27, 1995 were held Oct 31, 1995 at 2 pm from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Paster Danny Francis officiating. Burial was in the Willow Grove Cemetery.
Gordon Oscar Bybee was born May 7, 1919 in Kaycee, WY to Thomas R and Lela Cowan-Bybee. He grew up and began his schooling in Kaycee, later going on to graduate from the Johnson County High School in 1938. On Mar 10, 1945, Gordon married Ivalee Proctor in Denver, CO. They made their home in FL and later in NE. After being discharged from the service in 1945, Mr Bybee moved his family back to WY and made their home in Kaycee, then later in Buffalo. Gordon was a well-known contractor for many years throughout Johnson County.
Mr Bybee served his country honorably and with great pride. He was a member of the Army Air Force Redistribution Station Number Three at Ft Logan, CO. He served as a gunner in the Air Offensive Europe Normandy, completing 31 combat missions. For his service in WWII, Gordon received a Good Conduct Medal, the 44 Air Medal with three bronze and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Fishing and hunting were an important part of Gordon's life; he really enjoyed being in the outdoors. He also played the violin and the mandolin, and was a member of the American Legion Post #13.
Survivors include his wife , Ivalee of Buffalo; three sons, Richard of Buffalo, Dave of Anchorage, AK and Brad of Bridgeport, TX; one son-in-law, Vern Botz of Ravenden AR; three sister, Carol Turk, Doris Gilbert and Pearl Buell, all of Buffalo; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wyona; two granddaughters, Laura and Jennifer Botz; one son, Robert Bybee; and one grandson, Robert Dean Bybee."
