William Charboneau was born in Washington County, near Richwoods, Missouri, August 5th, 1844, and departed this life at the home of his son in Anaconda, May 16, 1930, at the age of eighty-five years, nine months and eleven days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Casey in 1870 and to this union five children were born, four of whom with his wife, preceded him
in death many years.
In 1885 lie was married to Belle Jones and to this union four children were born, one of whom with his wife preceded him into the Great Beyond. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Docia McCall of Lonedell, and -Mrs. Mayme Dond of Sullivan; two sons, Roy of St. Louis, Charles of Anaconda; one stepdaughter Mrs. Mande Jennings of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, one great-grand child; three brothers;, John of Stillwater, Okla., Julius of Richwoods, and Frank of Bonne Terre; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Jennie Doyen of Buffalo, Wyoming, Mrs. Justine Bequette of Livingston, Montana, Mrs. Lizzie DeClue of Richwoods and Mrs. Laura Rutledge of Herculaneum Mo., and many other relatives and friends.
William Charboneau was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was one of a family of seventeen children, eight of whom are still living.
Mr. Charboneau served his country in the Civil War and spent his later years ill the Old Soldier's Home at St. James, Mo., and at the home of his son Charles.
The Rev. Ollie Thurmond conducted the funeral services at the Prospect Church Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the Prospect Cemetery. - Bonne Terre Star - May, 1930
