Private Georgia Troops
Revolutionary War
John Simmons, died Jan 20th, 1835, Elbert Co. GA. was the son of James Simmons
He married Ann Freeman abt 1796 in South Carolina. She is thought to be buried in this cemetery but it is not proven.
This marker may be a cenotaph placed here in the 1950's. That would explain why the style of engraving is not consistent with the other graves of the same period.
