Obituuary - Salem News April 5, 1894
On March 21st 1894 at Randall Jewell County, Kansas, Jehu Hockett, in the 66th year of his age died.
The deceased was an old settler of Henry County, having lived in this vicinity until about fourteen years ago when he removed to Randall, Kansas. Where he resided until his death. A wife and twelve children survive him. One son, Elam Hockett, still lives near here. The deceased was a life-long member of the Society of Friends. He had been sick for a great many years, but death, the silent messenger, came swiftly and noiselessly and took him away from his kindred and friends to a heavenly rest.

Father of: Elam, Eunice, Alvin, Mary Margaret Hockett Van Doren, Nelson William Hockett, Lucinda, Adel, Harlan, Loris, Ruth Ann, John Orville, and Alice.
