Frank Henry Pattillo was the son of Frank Wilbur Pattillo and Rosanna Arts. He was born August 3, 1885 in New Orleans, Orleans Parrish, Louisiana. He moved from Louisiana with his parents and sister, Ruth, to San Francisco, California by 1907.

During World War I Frank enlisted as a private January 22, 1918. He was a member of the 286 th Aero Squadron, U.S. Army. His squadron was deployed to England for training shortly thereafter. The war ended while they were still in England and on November 25, 1918, the steamship Maurentania sailed from Liverpool bound for New York with twenty-four aero squadrons including the 286 th Aero Squadron. At this time his squadron consisted of two officers and one hundred forty additional men. He received an honorable discharge April 8, 1919.

Frank was described as quite good looking and a lady's man. He married three times.

The mother of his daughter was Marguerite Consuelo Gernandt to whom he was married February 13, 1916 in Alameda Co., California. Marguerite was born February 22, 1899 in California. She was the daughter of William F. and Francisca Prince Gernandt. Frank and Marguerite had one known child, Rosa Frances Pattillo. Rosa was born February 27, 1918 in San Francisco, San Francisco Co., California.

Frank is shown in the 1920 California census in Menlo Park Village, U.S. Public Health Service Hospital for Veterans of World War I. He was shot during the war and had shrapnel in his lungs. He is a patient in the Menlo Park Hospital and he is divorced. This census was taken in February of 1920. He is also found living with his parents in San Francisco. This census was taken in January 1920. In this listing he is shown as divorced and employed as a driver for a baking company.

He married second Florence M. Ryan September 28, 1921 in Marin Co., California. She was the daughter of James and Annie Ryan. She was born circa 1900 in Vallejo, Solano Co., California.

He married third Gladys Vivian Turner. Gladys' maiden name was Wheeler. She was the daughter of Augustus Oliver Wheeler and Alice Elsie Hascom In the 1930 census he is listed as living in Los Angeles, California with his wife Gladys V. Gladys was born July 1, 1899 in Bandon, Coos Co., Oregon. Frank is listed as a salesman for a warehouse.

Frank received shrapnel wounds to his lungs during the war and died of pneumonia November 15, 1932 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California. He was buried in the San Francisco National Cemetery in San Francisco, San Francisco Co., California. His death certificate lists his wife's name as Florence.
