Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 23 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Dr. Jerome King officiating. Burial will follow in Shawmut Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Gunnells, Mildred Young and Janelle Simpler, all of Valley; her son, Albert F. (Buck) Smith Jr. of Valley; her sister, Kathleen Nunnelly of Huntsville; her grandchildren, Richard and Susan Young of Katy, Texas, Herb Simpler and Cathy and Jim Rambo, all of Lakeland, Fla., Jimmy and Jenny Gunnells, Peggy and W.L. Gillenwaters, Judy and Frank Carnley, Joan Colley, Denise and Billy Milner, Chris and Lisa Smith, and Bobby and Tracy Smith, all of Valley; 20 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Born July 15, 1904, in Davidson, Ala., Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Shawmut in Valley. She was a retired employee of WestPoint Manufacturing Co.'s Shawmut Mill, with more than 49 years of service. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Smith Sr.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Shawmut New Properties Fund in memory of Mrs. Smith.
