Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 20, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman for Anna Popp, age 98, of Rice, who died Monday at the Foley Nursing Center in Foley. The Rev. Gerald Dalseth will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church in Buckman. St. Michael's Christian Mothers will pray at 4:30 PM, followed by parish prayers at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Anna was born October 15, 1910 in Ramey to Frank & Antoinette (Pekarek) Kubat. She married Henry J. Popp on November 26, 1934 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Brennyville. Anna farmed with her husband in Graham Township for many years. She moved to Foley in 2000.
Anna is a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, Christian Mothers of St. Michael and a past member of the Rice & Gilman Senior Citizens. Anna was the "treasure" of the Foley Nursing Home. She liked to quilt, play bingo and listen to the singing birds.
Survivors include her children, Gerald J. (Mary) of Rice, Robert D. (Bonnie) of Rice, and Ann LaVonne of St. Cloud; daughter in law, Marilyn C. of Sauk Rapids; 16 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry; son, Henry Duane; daughter in law, Mary Lee Popp; daughter in law, Maxine Popp; grandchildren, Julie Popp and Randall Popp; brothers, Joseph and Frank Kubat; sisters, Elizabeth Stoltz, Luella Popp, Amy Popp and Mary Lewandowski.
