Russell H. Hoover, 77, of 56 Washington St., Franklin, Pennsylvania, died early Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in Port Saint Lucie Medical Center, Port Saint Lucie, FL. Born Oct. 28, 1923, in Franklin, he was a son of Charles L. and Virginia Reynolds Hoover.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mr. Hoover was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga. He worked for Penelec, where he was a lineman and then division safety manager for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Franklin, and had served several terms on the church vestry. He was an avid golfer.

On Feb. 28, 1984, he married Mary Ellen Graham, who survives, with a daughter, Nancy K. Longardt of Fleming Island, FL; two sons, Stevin R. Hoover and his wife, Mechelle, of Fairway, KS, and Russell J. Hoover of Hoboken, NJ; two grandchildren, Theodora Michelle Longardt of Fleming Island, FL, and Hannah Kathleen Hoover of Fairway, KS; four brothers and their wives, all of Franklin; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Hoover and Marcella Hoover, both of Franklin. Deceased are his parents; and two brothers, Clair Hoover and Robert Hoover.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sean W. Rowe, rector, officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
