Obituary
Mary Aug
Fillmore county lost another of its respected early pioneer women last Thursday in the death of Mrs. Fred Aug of Harmony, mother of Mrs. Laurence Kleimenhagen of this village. Her death resulted from a stroke she suffered the day before. She was 73 years of age.
Mrs. Aug, nee Mary Bigalk, was born October 7, 1861, at Hustisford, Wis. When she was 9 years old, the Bigalk family, traveling in a covered wagon, came from Wisconsin to Howard county, Iowa where they settled on a farm. She resided there for ten years, then on March 22, 1880, married Wm. Burmeister. Six children were born to this union, two dying in infancy. Those surviving to mourn her departure are Mrs. Kleimenhagen; Mrs. Alvin Pfister of Hesper, IA., Mrs. Will Pfister of Hudson, Wis., and John Burmeister, Harmony.
Her husband passed away in the year of 1916. Over a year later she was united in marriage to Mr. Aug who also survives to mourn her loss, together with one brother John of Granger, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home and at the Harmony Lutheran church. Rev. O. C. Brenna officiating. She was laid to rest in Big Spring cemetery.
