Ida Bigalk is the daughter of John Bigalk, of Pommern, Prussia and Maria Friedreke Grunwald. Ida was born in Howard County, Iowa after the family moved from Hustisford, Wisconsin. Her family had immigrated in 1857. Ida married Theodore Michel in 1893 and the couple moved to Fillmore County, MN. After trying out farming, Theodore became a machinery and hardware salesman. They remained in Fillmore County until their deaths.
