Deceased was an exemplary woman, ever ready to lend a helping hand to the distressed or unfortunate. She will be sadly missed by the community as well as in the home.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Guss church, conducted by Rev Hicks. Interment was in the Guss cemetery.
Almena Lower was born in Nodaway township, Taylor county, Iowa, on December 17, 1873. Here she grew to womanhood and on Oct 6, 1891, she was united in marriage to Chas Ankeny. To this union three children were born, two daughters and one son, viz: Mrs W.E. Phillips, Watkins, Minn., Mrs M.N. Risner, Red Oak, Iowa, and Harry Ankeny of Creston, Iowa.
Mrs Ankeny had spent her entire life in Taylor county, the last twenty-two years being spent on the farm where she died. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, three children and a host of warm friends who will miss her greatly.
