Mrs. Mary I. Merrill passed away at her home in Sandusky, Thursday, Jan. 12, 1933.
Mary Irene Loomis was born in the town of Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County, New York, March 18, 1857, a daughter of the late Serno and Lucinda Loomis.. She was united in marriage to Perry E. Merrill, Jan. 11, 1877. Mr. Merrill preceded her in death fourteen years ago.
Those left to mourn their loss are three sons, E.L. Merrill and F.S. Merrill, Sandusky, and one daughter, Mrs. Shirley McElheney, Buffalo; a number of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Merrill had been an invalid the greater part of her life, and stood her suffering without complaint. She was a member of the Sandusky Baptist Church. Although she could not attend she was a devoted Christian and supporter of the church. Her belief in God made her burdens easy to bear. In the last few years of her life she was tenderly cared for by her son Eugene and wife, who did all loving hands could do to make her declining years as easy and comfortable as possible.
Funeral services were held in the home, Sunday January 15, at 2 p.m., Rev Gomer Mills officiating. Burial in Sandusky cemetery, beside her husband.
