Willis and Maude took care of foster children: Mary Golding, Bertha McDowell, Darrell Hedrick, Ruth Beaver and Dorothy 'Patty' Beaver. (NOTE: Ruth was taken in on July 31, 1934 - Willis' 63rd birthday.) Maude adopted Darrell when he was 24 years old - about 1947. (Darrell wanted the HARMON name - but never used it.) Willis had died in 1943.
