David is the son of Reuben and Miriam (Fifield) Bachelder. He was born in Hawke – now Danville, Rockingham co, NH. David married February 13, 1787, Dolly Batchelder (his cousin), daughter of Deacon Elisha and Theodate (Smith) Batchelder of North Hampton. She was born November 17, 1762, and died in Illinois March 19, 1852. They had 8 children:

•Sarah was born February 28, 1794 and died October 4, 1856. She married Moses Fifield, son of Sherburne Fifield and his second wife, Elisabeth Sanborn of Salisbury. Moses was born June 6, 1793. They removed out West. They had 5 children.
•Moses was born September 3, 1800 and died October 12, 1873. He married, on September 15, 1842, Sarah W Philbrick. She was born October10, 1810.
•Daniel, was a drover, and supposedly was murdered in the West.
•3 children died young.
