Delia was the first born child of Jessie M. Hinkle and Mary J. Watson. Born in Elmo Independence County Arkansas on 28 Feb 1871. January 18, 1891 Delia married Dr. William Madison Ellis. They moved to Navarro County Texas and Dr Ellis started a medical practice that is still talked about today. Delia and Dr. Ellis had four children who were all born at home. Kay Ellis, Beulah, Helen and Mary. Helen passed away in 1898 at the age of 5 months old and is buried next to Delia in the Dresden Cemetery Blooming Grove Texas.

Delia was ill much of the time, and on bed rest but she still found time to be a mother and friend to her children. Delia played the violin and music was much of the family entertainment.

The picture of the home to the right, is taken in 2010 and is still maintained in the glory it was created in. Dr Ellis and Delia raised their family in this house.

Tis hard to break the tender cord when love has bound the heart. Tis hard, so hard to speak the words, that we now have to part. Dearest loved one we have laid thee in the peaceful graves embrace but thy memory will be cherished till we see thy heavenly face.
