From "The Jackson Sun," Jun. 3, 2002: Graveside services for Mary H. Gaither will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Monday, June 3, 2002, at Highland memorial Gardens with son-in-law Jim Dismuke officiating. Mrs. Gaither died Saturday morning at her residence.
Mrs. Gaither was born in Madison County, Tennessee, the daughter of Harry Vernon Hinds and Gertrude Ryder Hinds on July 16, 1909. She was a retired Day Care worker from Tiny Tots Day Care. She had lived in Madison County all her life. She was a graduate of Malesus High School and would have been Valedictorian but moved and was classified ineligible. She graduated from West Tennessee Business College with the highest grade point average ever at the school at that time. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gaither is survived by husband J.T. Gaither, whom she had been married to for 72 years and three and a half months. She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Cole of Jackson, and Nancy Clark of Decatur, AL; one son Judson Gaither of Bartlett, TN; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gaither was preceded in death by one son, James Gaither, Jr.; one daughter, Peggy Dismuke; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
