SULLIVAN-July 6, Funeral services for Abia Chipps were conducted Friday afternoon in his home in Jefferson street by Rev.E.C.Branett, minister of the Christian church. Burial was in Greenhill cemetery.
Mr.Chipps who was past 75 years old was a life long resident of Moultrie county. Until about 20 years ago he lived upon a large farm in Jonathan Creek township where he was active in local politics and was a member of the county board of supervisors. He moved to Sullian but until a few years ago continued to supervise his farming business. He was elected to the board of supervisors from Sullivan Township and also was active in school affairs,being a member of the Sullivan school board for a time. He had been in poor health the last few years.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter and four sons. His daughter Mable lives in Chicago.The sons are Willis of Chicago,Earl of Bryan Ohio and Raymond and Paul of Sullivan.
