Lovina's father, Rinehart Stutsman (or Stutzman) was married twice, first to Hannah Ingle and then to Nancy Witter. Lovina's mother was Rinehart's first wife, Hannah Ingle. Lovina had a half-sister named Malinda Stutsman, whose mother was Rinehart's second wife, Nancy Witter. She also had a half-brother named Alexander Stutsman, also born to Nancy Witter.

After Lovina's husband Charles died in 1921, she lived with her brother Alexander Stutsman in Cassopolis, Michigan for a period of time, and kept house for him. Her half-sister Malinda Stutsman married a man named Albert A. Osburn; some of the Osburn family members remember "Aunt Lovina". They remember her as tall and thin, that she often stood with her hands on her hips, and that she was very outspoken.

Lovina was living with her daughter Mary Elizabeth (nee Criger) Schrader in Elkhart, Indiana when she passed away in 1928. (Bio added per request of Jeanette Criger Done)
