Celebrated Their Golden Wedding.
Sultan Journal, Oct. 13.
Last Saturday evening a number of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Mills gathered at their home in Sultan, in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. It was in the nature of a surprise gotten up by Mrs. J.H. Rogers and Mrs. Frank Winters. The evening was spent in various amusements and in the reciting of pleasant reminiscences. T.J. Atwood was called on and gave a suitable and very entertaining address. A bounteous supper was provided, which was partaken of by thirty-six persons. Mr. and Mrs. Mills were both born and raised in Morrow county, Ohio, were they were married fifty years ago the fourth of last July. During this period they have been gradually moving westward, until they reached the westernmost state of the Union, where they are spending the peaceful days of a long and active life. They have six children, three of whom Theoren (sic) E., John M. and Mrs. Anna N. Nichols live in other states, and Michael H., Mrs. Isadora Rogers and Mrs. Jennie S. Winters, who are residents of Sultan. There are fifteen grandchildren. Mr. Mills was 80 years of age last August, and Mrs. Mills is about ten years younger. Both have attained a good age, and it was a great pleasure to be thus remembered by their children, neighbors and friends.
